The Approach
I cannot be specific in explaining the steps I need to take to ensure that I will ensure what needs to be achieve as a leader. Like I said before, planning something out will not go accordingly, but with a positive attitude, it will take me to big things. While in FLP, I thank "past Janet" for taking notes during seminars, activities, and retreats, and also for writing my portfolios because I have something I can look back to whenever I need guidance and hope again. My journal book will help me through college and whatever it throws at me. It give me the strength and confidence I need to become an effective leader. Not only that, but it will help remind myself about my values and faith.
This part of the portfolio reminds me of when I had to do the rope course. To become a leader for all, I'm going to have to put myself out there in a very uncomfortable situations and motivate myself. The rope course was a reminder of how strong we all are and how we manage to encounter everyday obstacles. For example, when I had to walk across the rope to get to the other end, it was really, really difficult to do. I am scared of heights, and I felt like doing this was impossible. However, I pushed myself to complete the task with the guidance and motivation I needed from my fellow flp'ers. I was thrown into an uncomfortable situation, worked with a team, motivated myself, and continue to work hardwork. This could be used in our everyday life. I want to make a difference, and I know I am capable of doing this.
I want to approach everything life offers me with an open mind. With an open mind, it will lead me to open doors of possibilities that I may only get once in a lifetime. When life gives me lemon, make lemonade. When I see an opportunity in front of me, I need to take action. I have to be open to change in order to make a difference in the environment. Like I said earlier, I want to be the coffee bean. I want to make a change in the space around me, even if it's a simple deed. The little thing is a starting point for inspiration.
